Carbide Slag Processing Plant / Recycler Silicon Iron From Carbide Slag

Carbide slag is a byproduct generated from the hydrolysis of calcium carbide to produce acetylene gas. Composed mainly of calcium hydroxide, this residue can accumulate over time, occupying valuable land and causing serious erosion.

There are various methods for recycling carbide slag. For slag that contains silicon iron, a gravity separation process can effectively extract silicon iron, while the remaining residue can be dried and utilized in cement production.

The main processing steps for carbide slag include screening, crushing, separating, dewatering and storage.
The primary equipment used consists of a jaw crusher, a trommel screen, jig machines, vibrating feeder, vibrating screen, dewatering screen and conveyor.

 

High-Nickel Slag Processing

 

01. Screening
The carbide slag is fed into a storage bin by a loader, then evenly distributed to a rotary screen via a feeder. It is classified into three particle sizes: greater than 30mm, 8-30mm, and 0-8mm.


02. Crushing
The particles larger than 30mm are sent to a crusher, then screened again to yield 8-30mm and 0-8mm particles.


03. Graviry Separation
The 8-30mm residue enters a large particle jig to recover coarse ferrossilicon, while the 0-8mm material is processed in a fine particle jig to recover medium-sized silicon iron.


04. Dewatering:
The separated silicon iron alloys and waste residue are then fed into a dehydration screen to remove moisture, followed by storage.
